An email account at your own domain, such as you@yourdomain.com, takes a minute to set up.

Steps

1. Log in to cPanel.
2. Under Email, open Email Accounts.
3. Click Create.
4. Select the domain and enter the part before the @.
5. Set a strong password, or use the generator.
6. Set a storage quota, or choose unlimited if your plan allows it.
7. Click Create.

Choosing a quota

A quota prevents one mailbox filling your whole hosting account. When a mailbox is full it stops accepting mail, and senders receive a bounce. Somewhere between 1GB and 5GB suits most people; review it if you keep large attachments.

Connecting a mail client

Use the settings shown under Connect Devices for that account. In general:

• Incoming (IMAP) — port 993 with SSL/TLS
• Outgoing (SMTP) — port 465 with SSL/TLS
• Username — the full email address, not just the part before the @

Prefer IMAP over POP3 so your mail stays on the server and matches across all your devices.

If mail does not arrive

Check that your domain's MX records point at this server. If your DNS is managed elsewhere, the records must be corrected there.
